Dishwasher Drain Motor non-stop

By Mr.Chen , 13 October 2025

Had an issue with the Samsung dishwasher (model: DW80J3020US). The draining motor constantly running after the washing cycle, and continue back on even after turn off the machine. Also the "heavy" light is on. After searching online and found a clip in Youtube which is very helpful to resolve my issue before buying a new one.

Basically, the issue is likely something clogged or had residual water remained in the base on the  dishwasher (in the pipe, tube.). Somehow the system think there is water needs to drain so constantly running but just can't get rid of the water.

The fix is simple, no need to open and disassemble the machine, just follow these steps:

  1. pull the machine out and have a container to collect water and a few towel ready.
  2. tilt on the back of the dishwasher and catch the water from outlet tube.
  3. mop the water on the floor and may shake tilt on the different angle to ensure to get get rid of all remaining water in the base of the dishwasher.
  4. put it back and reconnect inlet and outlet tubes and re-secure the machine to try. Cross finders.

It did resolve my issue!!

"Pump running, blinking light and chime like this means there is water somewhere it shouldn't be. turn off power. pull the washer out and tilt almost on its back for a few seconds. water should come out. clean up water and push washer back into place. turn power on and check to see if working properly. reinstall washer. might be time to start thinking of a new dishwasher. hope this helps someone out."
